Went for a hike today, up a river canyon. Although it's "winter" here, it is really hot when the sun comes out. I got burned everywhere that wasn't slathered with sunscreen. I am still learning how to prepare for these excursions...food, water, clothing, sunscreen. This is rim country, and there are many waterfalls. Diamonds were discovered here some time ago. The water in some streams is brown with tannins. Others run clear. I had a one-inch visitor in my room. I hope he will eat any mosquitoes.
