First samba night

I got sick en route here, so I've been going to bed early, not going out to my beloved samba halls. Tonight, around 7:30, I strolled by an open-air bar on the strand/malecón/boardwalk, and a group of musicians was giving a very informal show. People walking by broke into dance steps. There was ukelele, bass drum, some small version of a conga, and several hand-held drums. One of the hand-drum players was using a beer bottle at times, like a cowbell. He got one sound from the neck and another tone from its body.
